Wow, Time is really flying… Just so you all know, I told Sister Mendenhall I wanted to extend my mission and she said they they could do that for me 😉 That would be rad! We’ll see what happens. Wow, this week was really cool! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED GENERAL CONFERENCE! It was amazing! I had so many prayers answered and got a ton of guidance and was called to much repentance. Which we all need. If you watched conference send me what your favorite talk was and why. If you didn’t, watch because you’re not a member watch these! David A Bednar’s talk, Neil L. Anderson’s talk, Richard G. Scott’s talk and Robert D Hale’s talk in the October 2014 General Conference on:
It could change you life 🙂
This week was pretty good! We had a rough time with Ruby though, we have to schedule a new Baptismal date with her because she was sick and couldn’t make any of the conference sessions and she has to come to church 3 times before she can be baptized. We didn’t have a lesson with her this week but I still have a lot of hope for her.
We have a new Investigator Joel, He’s 15 and he was baptized catholic and also went to the Jehovah’s Witness church for a little while because his step dad is a Jehovah’s Witness. He didn’t like those churches but he says he is really wanting to build a relationship with God because he knows it is something that is important. We taught him the lesson of the Restoration and it went really well. We are teaching him the Plan of Salvation this week and a member is coming with us. His name is Kelson and he’s 15. He’s gonna bike all the way out there with us. He’ll be an awesome missionary one day.
The storm headed our way the day we found Joel … worth it!
We also taught someone on her porch, her name is Kelly. She said she wasn’t looking for a church because she had been kicked out and told never to come back by so many already. I asked why and in her words she said, “I like chicks.” I assured her that if she joined out church she would never be cast out and be told never to come back. We talked about the Atonement and how we can overcome anything through our Savior Jesus Christ. and got really deep into that with her, after we taught the Restoration and it went really well, she accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon and said she’d read only because God had answered her prayer that morning and wanted to see if this was something He is trying to tell her as well. She’s 20 though so we are passing her off to the YSA Sisters next week. It was such a RAD experience!
Brighton is really starting to pick up, I love it the work will be BOOMING here. Lot’s of hard work is paying off with working with members and our own efforts.
Elder Hulka, Me and the cow
Something I loved from General Conference was Elder Jorg Klebingat’s Talk. He gave some really good council about drawing closer to God, 6 steps actually. 2 of them were “become really, really good at repenting.” we truly do need to be constantly striving to leave our comfort zone and become better than we are right now, we can thru sincere repentance thru the Lord Jesus Christ. And, “Become really, really good at forgiving.” The merciful obtain mercy, how can we expect to be forgiven if we ourselves will not forgive others. This principle of forgiveness helps us to let go and change become something better. We find our lives are some much better and easier when we don’t carry our grudges around. You can recognized a servant of the Lord by his willingness to submit to the will of the Lord. The Lord desires us to repent and forgive daily all day everyday no matter what. And in the words of President Packer, “the Savior is no stranger to His servants.” Follow the will of the Lord, follow the prophet, do as the spirit prompts you and see if the Lord will not make his presence know to you.
